Day 02

Day 03
• Depart in the morning to visit Angkor Thom, the ancient royal city and former capital of the Khmer Empire.
• Angkor Thom consists of several temples, including the Bayon, Baphuon, Terrace of the Elephants, and Terrace of the Leper King.
• Enter the city through the impressive South Gate and head towards the centerpiece, the Bayon Temple.
• The Bayon Temple features over 200 huge carved faces of former King Jayavarman VII.
• Visit the Terrace of the Elephants, which served as a platform from where the King viewed the victorious return of his army.
• Explore the Banteay Srei temple, built in the 10th century and dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva, which is one of Angkor’s most significant structures.
• The temple walls are covered in elaborate and well-preserved carvings providing insight into the Angkor people and their beliefs.
• Return to your hotel in Siem Reap in the late afternoon.
